Brahmacharis must wake up early, have bath perform Sandhyavandanam, have a hair-cut then again have bath and then perform Samidadhanam. Followed by Kamokarishi japam, Maadhyanikam, Brahmayagnyam, Mahasankalpam and then a bath. Change the poonal (Yagnopavitham dharanam), Do the Kaanda Rishi tarpanam, Vedarambham and prostrate before God and elders and complete the Upakarma.
Householders (Grihasthas) do not need a haircut nor need to perform Samidadhanam.
